George Cox & Sons
A long-term client since 2013. I built and look after the suite of private apps that runs their office, from timesheets and plant hire to tenders and job costs.
George Cox & Sons is a civil engineering and fencing contractor in the North West. I started working with them in 2013, building an app to keep track of the plant and machinery they hire in. More apps followed, and I’ve looked after all of them ever since.
Each app does one job well, and they all work together. Staff sign in once with GCID, a single sign-on I built for them, and jobs are kept in step between the apps automatically. They’re all private, so there’s nothing public to link to, and the screenshots are mockups with made-up data. As well as the bigger apps below, I also built and look after:
- GCID: single sign-on for every app, with an admin area to choose who can use which app, and encrypted requests between the apps and the login server
- Costs: weekly cost sheets for each job and supervisor, with cost, transport and supervisor summaries
- Contracts: every contract with its client, account manager, supervisor and cost centre, and the source of the job list the other apps use
- Subcontractors: each subcontractor’s details, documents and accreditations, such as Constructionline, CITB and ISO, downloadable as a PDF
- Servers & backups: scheduled tasks for the weekly emails and job imports, and daily database backups to Amazon S3
