Hillcrest Animal Hospital
A long-term client for ten years. I built and looked after their intranet, health plan, online shop and other apps, and the servers they ran on.
Hillcrest Animal Hospital was a client for ten years. I helped build their intranet in 2013, then kept it running and kept building new things for them until 2023, when my contact there moved on.
Most of it was internal, so there’s nothing public to link to. As well as the bigger projects below, I also built and looked after:
- VIP: a members’ club that worked out who was due their next package of treatments, then printed the postage labels and fulfilment sheets
- Calls: pulled in every phone call, recording and fax from their phone provider so staff could look them up
- Mobile: a mobile site where pet owners could see their pets, prescriptions and weights, and get reminders by text or email
- Servers & backups: automated server setup with Ansible, and automated database backups for every app to Amazon S3
Hillcrest has since been acquired by Medivet.

Management and vets used it daily to manage clients, animals, prescriptions and documents, with emails, text messages and real-time updates built in.
