About the project
Hillcrest Animal Hospital ran a health plan for their clients’ pets. Owners paid a monthly fee by direct debit, which covered their pet’s routine care through the year. The Healthplan app was where the team managed all of it.
For each member it kept their pet, their plan and their bank details, and looked up the bank’s name automatically from the sort code. The app also handled:
- Members moving between plans, and price rises, emailing every affected member when a plan’s price changed
- Letters to members, sent through Docmail to be printed and posted
- Taking card payments from members through Stripe
- Text messages to members through Twilio, with the screen updating live through Pusher
- Tracking how much of their plan each member had used, along with discounts and age-based supplements
- Monthly reports and income charts
- Storing members’ documents in Dropbox
Pets were synced from the practice’s main system every hour, so the plan always matched what the vets had on file. Staff signed in through Hillcrest ID, the same as every other internal app.
