About the project
Gamer Clothing run a WooCommerce store on WordPress where Twitch streamers’ custom merch is sold. They wanted a way for a streamer to celebrate a sale live on stream, the moment a customer buys one of their products.
I built a system that connects to the store. It does the following:
- Talks to the store through a WooCommerce API wrapper I wrote
- Uses a webhook, so a new order arriving in the store triggers an alert straight away
- Lets each streamer set up alerts for their own products, with an overlay to add to their stream
- Lets the streamer customise the alert title, how long it shows for, the sound it plays and the animation
- Shows the product photo (say, a t-shirt with the streamer’s logo on it) along with the alert message
The streamer sets it up once: they choose their alert settings and add their personal overlay URL to OBS as a browser source. After that, it all happens by itself, and every sale of their merch gets its moment on stream.
