Description
Desktoply was a desktop and homescreen sharing service I created back in 2011. It was originally the idea of me and 2 other guys. The very basic site was build using PHP but I then started to learn Rails and this was my first live site build using the framework.
It went through a number of versions including having a Pro feature where users wouldn’t see adverts and could upload more screenshots.
It was featured by a number of sites such as The Next Web, Lifehacker and AppAdvice
It had a full JSON API (which was developed for an iOS app) and used Rackspace Cloud Files for storing images such as screenshots & user avatars.
The service was shut down at the end of 2015.
